We discuss the expected response of CMS calorimetry to single hadrons and jets in the transition region between the barrel and endcap for a number of different geometries of the ”cable path”. These results are an important element in choosing the optimal design for the hadron calorimeter in an effort to optimise the Emiss t resolution of the detector.
